Vineyard: The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for Torres Mas La Plana come from a 29 hectare vineyard which was planted between 1964 and 1979. The soils here are deep, retain water well and are primarily of gravel (limestone, dolostone) and alluvial limestone from the Miocene age. Only the very best parcels of grapes are selected to make strictly limited quantities of this prestigious red wine.
Vinification: After harvest the grapes undergo a period of skin contact for 25 days followed by a 7 day fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel (at 25 to 28°C). The wine is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels (85% new). Bottling month: August of 2015
Tasting Notes: Intense aroma showing all the classic characteristics of the native land of Mas La Plana, together with notes of truffle, toast and wild red berry conserve. Great body and breadth on the palate, with juicy tannins that become balanced and elegant.
Paired with: Torres Cabernet Sauvignon Mas La Plana pairs well with grilled, stewed or roast meats and game dishes. More elaborate dishes could include: Boneless free-range rooster with cured ham and red wine sauce; lamb shoulder with spiced red wine sauce.
Served at: 17-18°C
